Before your appointment
There are certain things we would like you to do before your skin cancer check so we can give you the best possible service. We recommend you examine your scalp with the aid of a hair dryer to separate the hair, and areas covered by your undergarments prior to your appointment so you can alert the doctor to any moles in these areas during the mole check.
To allow us to perform a thorough skin cancer check with the highest accuracy please ensure that your make-up is removed well before the consultation. It is also preferable to remove your nail polish so your nails can be examined.
Some skin cancers can grow rapidly, including some melanomas which may have no colour or pigmentation. We recommend any suspicious spot not resolving within a month to be checked carefully by your GP or our Skin Check WA doctors.
We are able to offer urgent appointments for new or changing spots – please advise our reception when you contact us.
